NASYM was inspired
with the policies and ideas of Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first
Prime Minister of independent India, a visionary and truly a world
statesman who set up a platform to strengthen the Non- Aligned Countries
struggle against imperialism, colonialism, neo- colonialism, racism,
Zionism, terrorism and all forms of foreign aggression, occupation,
domination, interference or hegemony as well as against great power and
bloc politics.
With this mission, NASYM held its first International Preparatory Meeting on `Impact of the UN Sanctions on Third world countries and People’s Right” in June 1992 at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi which was attended by delegates from well over 24 countries and hundreds of student and youth bodies from India. This was followed by an International Youth Conference in 1994 which saw a participation of more than 42 countries and presentation from Indian student and youth bodies deliberating on the `Impact of the UN Sanctions on Third world countries and People’s Right” .
